Jaha Foods is one of the most important projects of Jaha Group.

The food processing company started its operation in December 2015, with the purpose to stimulate local economy, create new jobs and contribute to development of local agriculture sector by creating opportunities for local farmers to sell their produce wholesale.

The factory is based in Produjeva in north-eastern part of Kosovo and was set up to produce high quality products using minimal processing methods to retain nutritional values of vegetables. This region of Kosovo is famous for pepper production, and farmers are specialized in cultivation of traditional pepper varieties. With the project of Jaha Foods Processing Factory, local farmers are introduced to new varieties leading them toward farm diversification.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The project of Jaha Foods – Food Processing Factory in Podujeva is a social responsibility driven incentive. Employment of hundreds of people, generating incomes to rural families, engagement of farmers, cultivating technical knowledge and development of new skills are the main contribution of the project to the Podujeva region and community.

More about JAHA Foods

At the beginning, Jaha Foods started its operation in partnership with German partners with limited number of products, whereas now the company is advancing day by day, and is expanding its range of products. Along many others, the company has introduced different pepper varieties such as Cherry peppers, Macedonian peppers, Kardula peppers, Honey peppers, Sweet Chilli peppers, and Peloponnesian peppers.

QUALITY

The focus of Jaha Foods is to produce high quality, gently handled and specialty type products consistently. Dedication to ensure food quality and safety “from Farm to Table” lies at the heart of company’s Food Quality and Safety Policy.  Jaha Foods processing plant is certified with international standards on quality management ISO 9001 and food safety management ISO 22000. It is currently working towards obtaining IFS Foods certificate.

CULTIVATION

Jaha Foods truly believes that provision of high quality final products depends on the acquisition of high quality raw materials. Therefore, in order to produce their high quality products, Jaha Foods works closely with local farmers to provide technical advice, and encourage them to knowledge sharing. Farmers are guided to practice good agricultural practices and their production is constantly monitored in order to ensure that vegetables produced meet international quality standards.

Peppers are produced in open fields, with extensive farming systems.

PROCESSING

Fresh peppers cultivated by dedicated farmers are transported to the factory with refrigerated trucks, in the same day of harvest, and are taken to the processing line within 48 hours. This principle help the preservation of the freshness, nutrients and organoleptic qualities.

The processing plant possesses both canning and vacuum packing lines which make possible different types of packaging, based on clients’ requirements. In order to ensure food safety criteria, final products are pasteurized or sterilized, using the autoclave unit.
